2026 ford mustang

Few cars represent Ford like the Mustang. Since 1964, the Ford Mustang has defined the American muscle car, offering power, style, and plenty of thrills. As the Mustang enters 2026, you’ll find lots have changed since those first generations, with modern Mustangs available in a fastback or a convertible body. It features plenty of horsepower as a rule, but if you opt for the V-8, Ford’s muscle car delivers a truly special driving experience. This year, a new FX appearance package is available on GT Premium Mustangs, giving it a distinct, retro feel that sets it apart. Other updates for 2026 include new wheel designs, while Performance Package mustangs get Oxford White wheels that harken back to the days of the Mustang Cobra. Paint options like Adriatic Blue Metallic and Orange Fury also join the Mustang’s lineup. We will highlight everything you need to know about the Mustang as it enters 2026, from the horsepower to the technology. 2026 Mustang Performance and Powertrain

For most Mustangs, you’ll find a 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine under the hood. It produces 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. For true Mustang performance, though, go with the 5.0-liter V-8 instead. It gets 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. While it does pair with the same 10-speed, we prefer the six-speed manual. There’s an optional performance exhaust that increases horsepower slightly. Still, for even more performance, the Mustang Dark Horse adopts a track-centered approach, delivering 500 horsepower with a tuned-up version of the V-8. It comes equipped with all the extra features necessary for track days, including adaptive dampers and 19-inch Pirelli P Zero PRZ4 tires. The EcoBoost engine can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds, while the GT achieves this in approximately 4.2 seconds. While we can keep going on about how great the new Mustang is, you need to hear the engine for yourself. Visit Bob Moore Ford to take the Mustang out for a test drive.

New Ford Mustang Trim Levels and Features

The 2025 Mustang comes in two flavors: a fixed-top fastback or a soft-top convertible. You’ll find 13.5 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk of the fastback and 11.4 cubic feet of space in the convertible. For 2026, you can find the Mustang in the following nine trim levels:

Trim Level: MSRP:
2026 Ford Mustang Ecoboost Fastback $32,320
2026 Ford Mustang Ecoboost Premium Fastback $36,345
2026 Ford Mustang Ecoboost Convertible $40,120
2026 Ford Mustang Ecoboost Premium Convertible $41,845
2026 Ford Mustang GT Fastback $46,885
2026 Ford Mustang GT Premium Fastback $54,405
2026 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible $56,580
2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse $64,080
2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse Premium $69,075

We think the base trim level offers lots of value for a muscle car that can rip from 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds, but if you have some extra cash to spend, we’d use it to upgrade to the GT, which gives you access to that V-8 engine and the manual transmission. Models with Ecoboost feature the turbo four, while all other models feature some variation of the V-8. 2026 Ford Mustang Technology

Behind the wheel, you’ll find a 12.4-inch instrument cluster with a configurable display that allows you to select your colors, gauges, and plenty more little details. There is also a 13.2-inch infotainment display that runs Ford’s Sync 4 software, allowing you to connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A wireless smartphone charger is available if you’d like to de-clutter the cabin. Every Mustang is equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of driver assistance technologies. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, and more. There’s even an optional active pothole mitigation feature included with the Performance Package.
