The lineup starts with a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 making 400 horsepower, which is plenty of power for a school run or a loaded trailer. Move up to the Tremor or the King Ranch and the High-Output version of that V6 comes standard, pushing 440 horsepower. It is available on the Platinum too, so you can have the extra power without the off-road hardware. Four-wheel drive stays on the options sheet across the whole Expedition lineup. Properly equipped, Expedition towing capacity reaches 9,600 lbs, which covers most travel trailers and ski boats. The Expedition fuel efficiency rating isn’t great; it is a full-size SUV after all. There are seven trim levels this year, four standard models and three extended-wheelbase Expedition MAX SUVs.. Seating runs seven or eight passengers across three rows, with optional captain’s chairs in the middle row reducing capacity. Fold everything flat in a MAX, and you’ve got up to 102.2 inches of available cargo length, which is enough for a full sheet of plywood with the gate closed.
