The 2022 Ford Explorer now has a sporty look with ST-Line trim slots, and two new exterior colors: Stone Blue and Burgundy Velvet. Along with the new exterior colors, the Explorer XLT Sport appearance package offers new seat trims with Ebony seat bolsters and Light Slate inserts. The Explorer ST is available with RWD and AWD as well. With the Explorer Platinum and King Ranch, you can also get a standard 10.1-inch touchscreen, multi-contour seats, 14 speaker B&O sound system, and 400-hp turbo V-6 from the Explorer ST.
Technology
The base model of 2022 Explorer, includes LED headlights and taillights, three-zone climate control, a power liftgate, and an 8-inch touchscreen. 2022 Explorer XLT adds a push-button start and a 6.5-inch instrument cluster display, while the first row of the XLT offers heated seating, and the second row offers USB charging ports. A big tech bump comes with Explorer Limited as it gains power-folding mirrors, a heated steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, heated second row of seats, remote start, 14 speakers, and wireless device charging. On the Explorer Timberline, LED foglights are expected, along with a hands-free power liftgate. Power-folding second and third-row seats are also expected in the Explorer ST. Puddle lamps, a power tilting, and a telescoping steering wheel column are all standard for the Explorer King Ranch.
Safety Features
All of the 2022 Explorer lineup models received a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA and a four-star rating in rollover resistance testing. The Limited Hybrid offers a 3.3-liter V-6 and an eclectic motor getting 23-27 mpg in the city and 26-28 mpg on the highway. Lastly, Platinum, King Ranch, and ST have a 3.0-liter turbo V-6 with 400 hp and get 18-24 mpg city and highway. Â The Explorer Timberline model is equipped for leaving the roads with Bridgestone Dueler all-terrain tires, revised bumper fascia for improved approach, a small suspension lift, and steel skid plates. The steering, drivetrain, and suspension on the Timberline have been tuned for going off the beaten track.
